Distribution of Clothing
Life on the streets will never be easy. Not only are you vulnerable to abuse but just the basics are difficult. Keeping warm, clean and presentable is a constant battle.
At the Alison Centre we offer shower facilities and the opportunity to be ‘kitted out’ with some clean clothes.
These have usually been donated although we do buy and distribute new underwear and socks. This means that we are always on the outlook for good secondhand clothing.
Of course when the weather gets colder we need plenty of warm garments and blankets.
Many of our friends are young between 16 and 25 years of age so we need clothing such as jeans, T-shirts and trainers. We also give out sleeping bags and blankets, these are predominantly to men who are sleeping rough on the streets.
You can also leave a donation of clothes, particularly young people’s clothing such as jeans, T-shirts and trainers,
or non-perishable foods by calling at The People’s Kitchen at 56 Bath Lane in Newcastle city centre
