Our Services

7 sessions per week, 6 days a week, 52 weeks per year

Key Fact:

Around 140 hot meals are served every night that The People’s Kitchen is operational. That equates to around 40,000 meals per year – just short of a million acts of kindness in the past 25 years.

Our team of Kitchen volunteers prepares freshly cooked and nutritious three course meals every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the year to serve inside our Alison Centre home. A late night supper is also served on the streets on Monday and Thursday as well as a breakfast every Sunday morning. Our services are accessed by over 800 Friends each week, who typically each join us twice weekly.

The Alison Centre

The Alison Centre is the heart of our operation. Three nights a week, the Centre is open to our Friends and it is where we serve up around 140 freshly cooked meals. It’s also the home to the ‘Your Futures’ programme and all the associated services around it.

Current Roles

Your Futures programme

The People’s Kitchen has built on our foundations of food and friendship through a new programme: Your Futures. Our goal for the programme is to help and support our Friends to move towards independent living. We are doing this in two ways:
Firstly, we have recruited new volunteers who are being trained to be good listeners, enabling them to sign-post our Friends and connect them to specialist agencies.
Secondly, we have developed strong partnerships with professional agencies who regularly visit the Alison Centre and hold drop-in and advice sessions. We are currently making over 2,000 referrals a year to these services.
