Volunteer

The People’s Kitchen began 25 years ago and our continuing work would not be possible without our volunteers. Everyone at the People’s Kitchen is a volunteer so none of our income goes on wages or fees.

Volunteering can be fun, rewarding and challenging and the People’s Kitchen values the skills, opinions and experiences each volunteer brings to our work.

There are many benefits of volunteering; it instills self-esteem, widening your personal skills and awareness, giving a real change to your normal work ethos. Volunteering gives you the opportunity to put something back into the community and you will make new friends along the way.

Applying to Volunteer

As the people we work with can include a number of “vulnerable” people, all volunteer applicants must provide us with the name of two referees, agree to CRB checks and undertake an induction period covering all aspects of helping at The People’s Kitchen.
