Continuing what Alison Kay started over 30 years ago offering food and friendship, the People’s Kitchen now supports homeless and vulnerable people in many different ways. Some Friends rely on the facilities at the People’s Kitchen for a basic level of hygiene: the only place they can get a hot shower. Ensuring our facilities are suitable and reliable, renovations to the Friends’ toilet and shower took place over the summer.
With no government funding, it is only possible thanks to donations and volunteers that this has been possible. We’d like to say thank you in particular to the teams at EE and Tesco Bank who continue to fundraise this year, and to organisers and attendees of Tritfest 2019, the charity music festival in Northumberland, for helping us deliver this for our Friends.
