Plans are afoot for the array of festive activities next month, including our annual Christmas street party and Christmas day celebrations. It’s a special time for Friends and volunteers alike, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to share the magic of the festive season with others.
Christmas is also a hugely important time for The People’s Kitchen to raise funds for the year ahead. The charity is run entirely by volunteers, no government funding is received and no one is paid for their work. That means a small donation goes a very long way to sustaining the service, providing hot food and a friendly environment 6 days a week for those who need it most.
Maureen Armstrong, who leads on Corporate Social Responsibility for The People’s Kitchen explains:
“We can provide a three course meal for just £5 and all of the associated support that goes with it. If you can donate, it would be a tremendous Christmas gift to our Friends.”
Last year, kind-hearted pledgers raised more than £80,000 which ensured that everyone who needed it received a hot meal throughout the cold winter months.
The People’s Kitchen is once again asking the generous people of the North East to pledge to help provide food for a Friend for Christmas. As a supporter, we would be delighted if you would spread the word to friends and family to offer them the opportunity of making a big difference for a local person.
Donations can be made via our website: www.peopleskitchen.co.uk/feed-a-friend, and through NEoffers.co.uk.
